HELP NOW WITH CHILDREN & TEENS

The most important job any of us will ever do in our lives is to raise children.  But almost none of us are taught how to do it.  We learn the lessons from our own family of origin.  Whether we do things the same way as our parents or choose to do the exact opposite, our own family remains the greatest influence.  And when our partner comes from a family with very different rules, conflicts on how to bring up children easily arise.  Blended families can make the situation even more complex.

Life is no easier for single parents - they face a different set of challenges.  Co-parenting, juggling the needs of children with earning a living and having time for oneself are common issues.

You may be having difficulty with setting boundaries for a child or with their behaviour. Depression or fears in children can be a worry.  Motivation, peer pressure, school work and bullying can all be stressful to handle.  Children can be angry or antisocial and sometimes abusive.  Separation of parents or bereavement can leave a child grieving.

Teenage years, the necessary transition from a child to an adult, can be difficult to manage.  The teen has to learn how to create new boundaries for the self, while parents often struggle or grieve in the process of letting go.

Counselling can provide a place for you to share your worries and fears.  It can provide support and help reduce or calm your anxieties.  Working together we can develop ways of building a good relationship between you and your child and creating the life you want for them, while at the same time looking after yourself.

MY GUARANTEE

As a counsellor I know that I can help most people who come to see me, with a wide range of issues. However, the single most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. You cannot know whether you will have that necessary confidence and trust until we meet. If you end your first session feeling that you haven’t been helped at all and you do not wish to return then tell me. I will gladly refund the initial fee in full, without qualification.
